The team will depart from the high school at 8:30 a.m. this Thursday morning. They will travel down Maroon Tide Drive, where middle and high school students will line the street to cheer them on, and then continue to Academy Drive so our elementary students can do the same. Next, the bus will travel down Main Street before turning onto East Stuart Drive and heading to Richmond.
A special thank you to our police and fire departments for providing the escort!
We invite the community to join us along the route to show your support for our Lady Maroon Tide Basketball Team. The girls would be honored to see the community cheering them on as they leave town.
We hope to see you there. Go Tide!

GMS students are going places!!!! On March 3, 2026 a group of 10 GMS students participated in the VT MiX program through the Center for Rural Education at Virginia Tech. During this trip, students visited the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech where they learned about different majors that can be taken if a student is interested in the arts, but not interested in performing.
At the Fife Theater, students went backstage to see how a Technical Theater degree can be useful in stage management, including the lighting, costume design and movement of props.
At the Cube, a black box theater, students got to play with sound and lighting. Those who chose to major in electrical engineering, architecture, and art and design might use this space to mock up how sound responds in a given space.
Students then went into the Abigail Lucien exhibit to create origami butterflies for a community art project.
A trip to Virginia Tech isn't complete without a trip to the D2 Dining Hall where students enjoyed lunch!
We wrapped up our visit with a visit in at the Breakzone Recreation Center where students enjoyed crafting, bowling and playing pool.
